Job Description


Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities for the Trauma Registrar’s role encompass all aspects of a database model.  Accurately identifies all patients for entry into the hospital trauma registry. Abstract data from the medical records of appropriately identified I defined trauma patients. Completes and verifies for accuracy all data collected as a requirement for a level 1 trauma center.  Assigns and scores all injuries utilizing the AIS and ICD-9 system, ICD  10 accurate E-codes, collects and codes data on all procedures and complications. Maintains a paperless data process.  Optimizes all available electronic resources available to support the trauma data process. Ensures that all data is validated and maintains a concurrent and comprehensive data validation process.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
 
  • Current and valid state RN License.
  • Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  • AAAM Course Certificate of Attendance within one year of hire.
  • ATS Data Registrar Certificate of Attendance within one year of hire.
  • Excellent computer skills are required including proficiency in (MS Office (Word, Excel, Access).
  • Experience in reviewing charts for care issues. 
  • Detail oriented organizational skills. 
  • Must be able to handle multiple cases, directions and be able to follow-through.
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written. 
  • Experience with Medical Staff communication a must.
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship skills with exceptional professional work ethics.
  • Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, database and typing.
