Job Description

The LDRP nurse demonstrates knowledge in admission procedure, labor assessment, physical assessment: Adult/Newborn/Post C Section/Post partum/ Psychosocial, labor progress, pain level and response to treatment. The LDRP nurse will demonstrate knowledge in the specific drug therapies used on the unit. The LDRP nurse will demonstrate skill in all the following monitoring devices used on the unit. The LDRP nurse will demonstrate the ability to teach Breast feeding techniques, newborn care, post partum care for mother, discharge follow-up. The LDRP nurse will demonstrate the necessary skills needed to accurately utilize the following equipment as per practice guidelines: Bilirubin treatment lights Breast pumps Epidural continuous infusion pump Isolettes: Heated mist/ Maintenance - Oxygen analyzer - Oxyhood The LDRP nurse will demonstrate that she/he is knowledgeable on the following topics: Amniocentesis Apgar scoring AROM & SROM: Amniotic fluid (color) - Fetal assessment - Maternal assessment - Meconium stained fluid - Nitrazine test AVBAC Breastfeeding Scalp & cord ph Transfer to tertiary center: Documentation - Stabilization (Newborn/ Mother) - Transport of Mother Vital signs: Heart rate: Apical (normal vs. abnormal) - Pulse (radial, femoral) - Appropriate norms for age Blood Pressure: Appropriate norms for age - Appropriate size cuff - Skilled in the procedure Respirations: Appropriate norms for age - Breath sounds Temperature: Axillary - PO - Rectal CODE ALERT System Complication of pregnancy: Breech presentation - Cesarean section - Gestational diabetic - PIH - Placenta abruption - Placenta previa -Preterm labor - Prolapsed cord - Torch syndrome Hyperbilirubinemia: Labs - Treatment Nutrition: Breastfeeding - Formula Newborn resuscitation Routine lab studies: Newborn - Mother Routine orders: Obstetrician - Pediatrician
