Overview

**Please note this is a Regional role for Division I**

Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) / Workplace Violence Educator provides staff development in the train the trainer program to support Prime BVP, workplace violence prevention planning, and overall hospital safety, consistent with new regulatory requirements for hospitals and healthcare services. Educator supports the clinical and patient care service areas to support hospitals in attaining compliance and support objectives, mission and values established by corporate administration.  Educator will be responsible for the development and implementation of education plans for providing training consistent with identified needs.  Implements an effective, ongoing training program to measure, assess and improve the quality of care, treatment and services delivered to all patients. Supports corporate wide initiatives to ensure Assaultive Management training is implemented effectively and remains complaint with changing regulations.

Responsibilities


  • Implements Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) program in a manner consistent with Prime Standardized Practices and in a cost-effective manner as possible

  • Serves as a member of professional staff committees in matters consistent with overall responsibilities

  • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of federal, state, local laws, and accreditation standards, related to hospital environmental safety, workplace violence prevention, and culture of safety regulations

  • Demonstrates knowledge of modern principles of staff development, organization, and management

  • Plans, organizes and directs effectively to ensure the provision of excellent patient care to the population served.  Works in collaboration with department managers to ensure compliance with the originations mission, vision as well as federal, state, local laws and other regulatory agency requirements

  • Review policies and procedures to assist in identifying hospital needs that would affect the quality of patient care.  Collaborates with the Directors and Managers of departments to provide education and training for changes in policies and/or introduction of new procedures or processes

  • Interacts professionally with all facility Directors, Managers and Supervisors, and determines if there are specific educational needs

  • Reviews data from Risk Managers to determine if potential risks could be avoided and prevented through education programs

  • Responsible for the observation and direction of Assaultive Management Program (BVP) train the trainer programs, competency and re-certification of instructors

  • Uses professional judgment and clinical assessment in violence preventions practices that are consistent with policies and best practices

  • Attends and maintains mandatory training related professional licensing, maintain of certifications, job duties and role within the organization

  • Performs other duties as assigned or required


 

 

 

Qualifications


  • Experience in hospital safety and workplace violence prevention, minimum of 3 years

  • Current BCLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current

  • Must be an experienced violence prevention instructor, with a minimum of 3 years training experience

  • Must have at least 5 years acute inpatient psychiatric patient care experience

  • CPI Training Certified
