Job Description

Overview The Providence Medical Center Outpatient Rehabilitation Department is looking for a flexible and dynamic candidate to work in our busy outpatient clinic. Job Duties for this position include patient intake and scheduling, patient registration, patient check-in and insurance benefit verification.  Clinic hours are 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on weekdays. Prefer previous experience working in outpatient rehab, a medical office or hospital admissions. Candidate should have knowledge of medical terminology, and experience working with insurance companies to verify benefits is preferred.  Excellent customer service skills are needed for interaction with patients, physician offices and insurance companies.  Prefer candidate who has experience working with Microsoft Excel and Word and computer registration of patients. 

Responsibilities The Patient Account Registrar interviews the patient or his/her representative to obtain patient demographics. This position also secures insurance information, eligibility, benefits and authorizations as applicable. Works closely with all facets of the Admitting department including PBX operator function and reception areas.� Must be able to operate a computer to input and retrieve data.� Ability to communicate with the population served, utilizing age specific techniques from neonatal, pediatrics, adolescents, young adults, middle adult to geriatrics.� Maintain proficiency in medical terminology.� Special projects or other assignments may be given with expectations to be completed in a specified timeframe. Education and Work Experience
  1. Previous hospital experience as an admissions representative preferred.
  2. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  3. Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  4. Ability to multi-task, prioritize needs to meet required timelines.
  5. Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  6. Customer Services experience required.
  7. High School Graduate or GED Equivalent Required (effective 4/1/14 for all new hires)
