Job Description

Performs screening and diagnostic mammography according to MQSA, State, ACR or the state agency of quality and department protocols. Communicates with radiologists, referring physicians, and radiation oncologists as needed. Assists radiologists in stereotactic biopsy, needle biopsy, MRI breast biopsy, and ultrasound breast biopsy and breast localization procedures. Functions as the first line interface with customers and is successful in the accomplishment of their imaging needs. Performs quality control (QC) activities required by the FDA/MQSA regulations, by state statue and by the ACR or qualifying agency for quality in your state. Assists with inspections and surveys as needed. QC activities include, but not limited to system warm-up, calibration exposures, phantom imaging, film printer testing, interpretation monitor testing, data/report research, data entry, service record documentation, continuing education units, license, and certification documentation. Assists medical physicists in the operation of equipment for physicist testing. Documentation remains organized and readily available for inspection. Participates in PI/ QC activities required by MQSA, State and facility. Assists in perform necessary functions to achieve and maintain ACR accreditation. Assists in maintaining performance improvement program. Maintains department readiness for FDA/MQSA, The Joint Commission, State and other organizations inspections/surveys. Participates in breast program, including but not limited to attending breast tumor boards, assist cancer registry, assisting nurse navigators within the scope of a mammography technologist. Reports all equipment issues to director and to biomed for repair following organization protocols. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Promotes teamwork and excellent customer service.
