Responsibilities Medical Group Administration

Full time


The Executive Director of Medical Group provides operational and financial oversight to employed physician practices for the health system. St. Mary’s medical group consist of approximately 100employed and contracted physicians and mid-level providers in multiple specialties (Primary care, hospital-based, and specialists). With direction from the Health System CEO and Corporate Vice President for Medical Groups, this role assumes day to day accountability for all facets of practice operations, with a strong emphasis on managing patient access and throughput, provider productivity, staffing, and medical group support services.  Facilitates an atmosphere of participative management and the development of collegial relationships with Medical Group managers and staff, hospital leadership, and corporate leadership. Will be visible, accessible and committed to communicating effectively with providers, hospital leadership, and staff.  Financial responsibilities include ownership and management of financial reporting & analysis, provider productivity reporting & analysis, and oversight of the medical group revenue cycle functions.



1.    BS in Business Administration, Finance or Health Care Administration required.

2.    Master’s in Business Administration, Public Health, Healthcare Administration preferred.

3.    Ten or more years of leadership experience, preferably within a large physician practice or a health system, clinical with multi-site responsibilities.

4.    Experience in a complex healthcare delivery environment, including clinic operations, financial management, and business growth and development within a large medical group or multi-specialty practice.

5.    Excellent leadership skills including ability to think strategically, develop vision and execute for results.

6.    Knowledge of regulatory and compliance healthcare requirements.

7.    Excellent presentation and communication skills.

8.    Ability to make sound business decisions by analyzing financial and quality metrics as well as develop practical solutions for metric goal deviations.

9.    Strong business and financial background with a sense of urgency and a desire to achieve top line results.
