Job Description

Responsibilities Infection Control: Responsible for surveillance, prevention and control of infection. Assists with policy and procedure development and implementation while maintaining CDC, OSHA, Title 22, HFAP/TJC/CDPH/CMS and other regulatory agency directives. Acts as a primary education consultant to hospital employees, physicians, patients and visitors in safe Infection Control/Prevention practices. Coordinates all hospital infection control activities with the Infection Control Committee, Medical Staff and hospital employees. Responds to potential exposures by communicating with patients, physicians, employees and regulatory agencies.


Employee Health: Coordinates employee annual physical examinations, new hire physical clearances, and some Worker's Compensation issues as requested by Human Resources. Provides emergency evaluation for work related injuries, assures cost effective coordination of treatment, referral to preferred providers, collaborates with management in development of objectives for employee health services compatible with goals and objectives of the hospital. Records and helps to maintain required confidential employee and administrative records. Performs safety rounds of the physical plant to insure basic Infection Control/Prevention and safety practices are adhered to in all hospital departments in order to maintain a safe environment for patients, physicians, visitors and hospital employees.



Education and Work Experience

  1. One or more years of supervisory experience with a minimum of three years experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred.
  2. Knowledge of theory, techniques and practices of infection control and employee health.
  3. APIC membership and attendance preferred.
  4. Completion of courses in Infection Control and Epidemiology.
  5. BLS (AHA) within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
