Job Description

Overview Functioning under the direction of the Director of Plant Operations the dedicated, disaster planner will implement all local city/county or federal grants’ requirements in the facility. Activities must be coordinated in accordance of the local agency’s requirements that implement the programs for their respective community or county

Responsibilities Coordinates the implementation of all grant initiatives including the following

a. Maintains all disaster equipment and supplies in a clean, secure location and ensures that all disaster resources are easily accessible and available for rapid deployment following a disaster.

b.  Maintains all grant documentation and ensures that documentation is complete and available for review by external agencies.

c.  Develops and maintains a trained and prepared hospital decontamination team.

d.  Develops a roster that includes staff for all shifts.

e.  Ensures that the facility’s decontamination team receives  periodic  training as per grant requirements.

f.  Maintains all team training records and documentation.

g.  Attends 100% of scheduled applicable community meetings.

h.  Acts as a liaison with the EMS Agency, area clinics, local fire and police and other outside agencies likely to have either a response or support role to the facility following a disaster.

i.   Coordinates the facility’s participation in the Community/State/County disaster exercise.

Participates in the development and annual maintenance of the facility’s written disaster plans and procedures to ensure effective multi-hazard disaster response. This includes but not limited to the following:

a.  Guidance for surge

b.  Facility evacuation

c.  Pandemic flu

d.  Natural disasters

e.  Chemical, biological and nuclear events

Participates in the annual review of the facility Hazard Vulnerability Analysis (HVA).

Plans and coordinates disaster drills and exercises including a minimum of one decontamination drill/exercise annually.

Maintains all documentation of exercises’/drills’  and staff training records

Writes “after action” reports and facility improvement plans using current Federal Homeland Security, accreditation and local county requirements.

Submits all after action reports to the related agencies.

Ensures that post-exercise suggestions and improvement plans are integrated into the exercise and emergency preparedness programs of the facility.

Participates in the readiness activities in the facility’s Hospital Command Center.

Ensures that relevant facility staff is trained in NIMS/ICS, HICS, and other emergency preparedness programs on a regular basis.

Includes Hospital Command Center staff in all appropriate emergency/exercises.

Performs all duties as assigned or required.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

 

    High school diploma or equivalent required.Certification for ICS/NIMS and HICS within 6 months of hire
