Job Description

Director of Human Resources is an exempt full time position that reports directly to the COO.


  • Human Resources Director plans, directs, and implements policies for all areas of the human resources function including staffing, compensation, benefits, training, employee relations, safety and compliance.
  • Administers and innovates human resources programs and policies support company goals and positively engage the workforce.
  • Being a Human Resources Director advises leadership on all human resources issues with broad and current subject matter knowledge that includes expertise in federal and state employment laws.
  • Prepares operating budgets for human resources and make recommendations for funding that drives workforce productivity.
  • Additionally, Human Resources Director maintains a HRIS or other system for all required processes and transactions that provide data and reporting on HR activity.
  • The Human Resources Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function.
  • Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure.
  • Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.


    • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred.
    • 3 Years of related healthcare experience required.
    • Union experience strongly required.
    • Must be familiar with the hospital organization; functions of various departments; current personnel practices and techniques, including review techniques; training methods; and job analysis.
    • Familiar with the labor market, laws, wage and hour regulations, and ERISA guidelines required.
    • Knowledge of state and federal wage and hour required.
    • Familiar with Joint Commission and HFAP standards.
