Job Description


The Radiology Charge Nurse is responsible  and accountable to the Department Director for the quality of nursing staff and the delivery of patient care during his/her shift and assists the Director in the daily operation of the respective unit(s)/department. He/she provides direct communication with the Director and/or House Supervisor of unanticipated patient care events and/or risk management activities within the unit(s); Utilizes nursing personnel effectively, assisting with required scheduling, staffing and assignments; Provides direction, supervision and evaluation of staff and/or staff education as necessary; Assists with performance evaluations, progressive discipline of staff and other related HR activities as needed; The Radiology Charge Nurse provides direct patient care within the scope of practice.  The Radiology Charge Nurse works collaboratively within a multi-disciplinarily team and is responsible for providing the highest quality nursing care and service excellence in the continuum of care.  The Radiology Charge Nurse works in support of the Radiologist, providing assistance in the performance of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.  Assists with the maintenance of equipment and inventory.  Assesses procedure room or equipment functioning and readiness. Responsible for adherence to regulations, standards and hospital or unit policies and procedures and participation in Performance Improvement activities, department meetings and in-services. Acts as a resource for other personnel as appropriate.


1.     Current and valid state RN License.
2.     Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
3.     Current ACLS Certification 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
4.     Certified Radiology Nurse (CRN) preferred.
5.     One (1) year of acute clinical Radiology Nursing experience preferred.
6.     Ventilator Management experience preferred.
7.     Conscious Sedation Monitoring competency within 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
8.     PICC Certification within 3 months of hire and maintain annual competency.
9.     Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
