Job Description

Overview The CDM Analyst monitors, analyzes, and approves all changes made to the Charge Description Master. They review and study all information from third party payers relative to claim filing, coding, and the adjudication process.


Education and Work Experience

  1. Medical Graduate or RN with current valid license and relevant education required.
  2. Master of Public Health or post-graduation in a similar field preferred.
  3. Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)/CPC certification required.
  4. Experience maintaining price files and record keeping.
  5. Experience with medical terminology and CPT coding systems.
  6. Minimum of 3+ years of clinical experience in an acute care setting.
  7. Prior Case Management experience is desirable.
  8. Knowledge of care delivery documentation systems and related medical record documents.
  9. Knowledge of age-specific needs and the elements of disease processes and related procedures.
  10. Strong broad-based clinical knowledge and understanding of pathology / physiology of disease processes.
  11. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent critical thinking skills.
  12. Excellent interpersonal skills to build effective partnering relationships with physicians, nurse staff and hospital management staff.
  13. Working knowledge of inpatient admission criteria.
  14. Ability to work independently in a time-oriented environment.
  15. Computer literacy and familiarity with the operation of basic office equipment.
  16. Assertive personality traits to facilitate ongoing physician communication.
  17. Working knowledge of Medicare reimbursement system and coding structures preferred.
