JOB SUMMARY: The Material Management/Buyer is responsible for the procurement of material and services as assigned by the Director/Manager of Material Management.  Must understand inventory control in order to minimize stock and non-stock orders.  Must be able to communicate with department managers regarding discrepancies, pricing, substitutes and backorders.  Must be able to prioritize duties for optimum productivity.  Able to process and organize purchase orders and receiving documents for Accounts Payable.


  • High School Graduate or Equivalent.
  • AA Degree Preferred.
  • Previous recent hospital experience as a buyer preferred.
  • Knowledge involving the acquisition of equipment, supplies and policies and procedures.
  • Ability to utilize Material Management Information system (MMIS) and EDI.
  • Strong communication skills.
