JOB SUMMARY: The Department Clerk is responsible for the handling of incoming and outgoing mail pertaining to the hospital. Must be able to operate computer to enter and retrieve data. Needs to have ability to recognize and correct mailing errors immediately. Always uses proper tact and discretion in handling inquiries from patients and their families. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING: 1. High School Graduate or GED Equivalent Required (effective 4/1/14 for all new hires). 2. Previous hospital experience with filling, organization of files, or coping records preferred. 3. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred. 4. Effective written and verbal communication skills. 5. Ability to multi-task, prioritize needs to meet required timelines 6. Analytical and problem-solving skills. 7. Customer Services experience required.

Legend: Shift 1=Day, 2=Evening, 3=Night, 4=Varied.
