Job Description

Responsibilities

The Appeal Tech I coordinates the clinical denial and appeals process for the Denials Management Team. This positions is responsible for coordinating all applicable correspondence, performing various administrative and clerical duties to support the department. The Appeals Tech will prepare appeal packets by printing required medical records and other materials as instructed, mail completed packets to correct addresses either in paper or CD formats. Log all accounts in SharePoint with acceptable timeframes as outlined in the department’s metrics. Participate in departmental quality program and achieve a quality score of 95% or above. Position will further support the department needs for Release of Information, tracking and follow-up and all other duties as assigned.

 
Qualifications

1. Computer data entry with 10-key, with accurate typing speed of 35 wpm; preferred.
2. High School Diploma required.
3. Computer proficiency in MS Word, Excel; required.
4. Completion of a medical terminology course; preferred.
5. Background in business and office training; preferred.
6. Previous working experience in a healthcare setting or a hospital preferred.
