Job Description


The position of the Registered Nurse supports the Prime Healthcare directive by performing the essential functions of clinical competencies, age specific awareness, documentation of care, family centered care, clinic responsibility, professionalism, and use of the nursing process in accordance with the characteristics outlined under each competency.


Recognizes signs of abuse and reports appropriately to the hospital/clinic social worker and/or Child Protective Services. Familiar with the EMTALA Regulations.

A Registered Nurse shall be responsible for the observation and direction of patient lifts, mobilization, and shall participate as needed in patient handling if necessary in a clinic setting.

Attends and maintains mandatory training in safe patient handling, trained in safe lifting techniques, includes but not limited to 1) Appropriate use of lifting devices and equipment, 2) Five areas of body exposure: vertical, lateral, bariatric repositioning and ambulation, 3) Use of lifting devices to handle patients safely.

Uses professional judgment and clinical assessment in safe patient handling that are consistent with Safe Patient Handling policies.

Consistently uses two patient identifiers when drawing lab, administering medications and performing procedures.

Does not use unacceptable abbreviations in documentation, (using read back on all telephone orders).

Consistently follows medication reconciliation policy.

Ensures Crash Cart, defibrillation function have been checked per protocol and after each code, appropriate items are immediately replaced and indicated by signature on crash cart checklist.

Is in compliance with information contained in the Infection Manual (i.e., OSHA blood borne pathogen standards, CDC Guidelines), and demonstrates appropriate use of personal protective equipment ( e.g., gloves, gowns, masks, goggles ) and hand washing techniques.

Assists physicians with special tests and procedures in the clinic.

Avoids and prevents injury to self and patients by applying the principles of body mechanics. Maintains a safe environment, functioning with an awareness and application of safety issues identified within the clinic.

Performs all other duties as assigned or required.




  • Current and valid state RN License.

  • Current BCLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.

  • Six months of previous clinic setting experience preferred; other areas of experience will be considered on a case by case basis. Two years of Cardiology experience preferred.

  • Must possess the ability to use critical thinking skills to identify problems and opportunities.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing, positively represent the department to internal and external customers.

  • Must possess a level of analytical skills to identify patient needs and solve problems.

  • Effectively prioritizes workload to meet deadlines.

  • Must have basic computer skills.

  • Must demonstrate competency and have the ability to administer medications to include controlled substances via all routes.
