Responsibilities
SOCIAL SERVICE II: – Behavioral Health: To provide emotional support, crisis intervention and counseling for adults and older adults in a psychiatric setting. Social worker is responsible for completing psychosocial assessments, developing initial and weekly revision of treatment plans, conducting individual and group therapy. The social worker is also responsible for providing case management services and coordinating all aspects of the patient’s treatment and discharge planning. Must function well independently and as part of a highly involved interdisciplinary team. Considered applicants should have some working knowledge of appropriate information specific to behavioral health, including psychoeducation and referral sources, financial resources as well as community based supportive services. Familiarity with LPS holds and legalities preferred, as we are a designated LPS facility. Strong clinical acumen and ability to write daily documentation to maintain a clinical record for each client during his or her length of stay.
Education and Work Experience
Master's degree in Social Work (LSW/MSW), Marriage and Family Therapy (LMFT/AMFT), Licensed Professional Clinical Councilor or related field.Must either be licensed by the state of California have a license in clinical social work, marriage and family therapy or be registered as an associate to work on hours towards licensure. Supervision towards licensure available.Current BCLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.Behavioral Violence Prevention within 3months of hire and maintain current annually.Minimum one (1) year Inpatient l or Outpatient Behavioral Health experience. Experience in working with a diverse population with a wide range of problems (i.e., death and dying, maternal and child care, substance abuse, disability, chronic illness, etc.).
Preferred Skills: Demonstrated understanding of a wide variety of mental health, drug abuse and/or alcohol related disorders.Proficiency with DSM V diagnostic criteria for major mental disorders, and familiarity with medical and psychiatric terminology and psychopharmacologyExcellent verbal and written communication skills.Professional demeanor and effectiveness in working with patients, family, hospital staff and departments as well as a range of community agencies and their personnel.Ability to conduct effective psychosocial interviews with severely mentally ill population.Sensitivity to a culturally diverse patient populationDemonstrated competency in a fast paced environment with the ability to prioritize workload and manage time well.Strong clinical acumen and ability to write daily documentation to maintain a clinical record for each client during his/her length of stay.
