Overview The Practice Manager is responsible for planning, organizing and influencing department activities and delivery of Business services while maintaining continuous quality improvement.  The Practice Manager maintains operation within budgetary parameters. Interacts with the physicians, hospital staff, outside agencies, patients and patients families/significant other(s) to ensure comprehensive care, while maintaining standard of professional business service.  The Practice Manager is accountable to the Director of Practice Operation for the day-to-day management of personnel, including staffing, timekeeping, employee evaluations, counseling interviewing and selection of staff within established guidelines. 

Responsibilities Manages the daily activities of affiliated physician practices and has accountability for operational and financial performance.  For large practices, acts as the Administrative liaison to the practice administrator(s).  For smaller practices, serves as the practice administrator.
Monitors/benchmarks the financial performance of affiliated practices and related revenue cycles.  Recommends operational improvements to senior leadership.
Ensures that all necessary documentation is submitted to the appropriate Hospital department on a timely basis for monthly or periodic reporting.  The documentation includes those documents necessary for payments to the practices, revenue cycle reports, physician performance, compliance reports, etc.
Analyzes and recommends policies and procedures for the efficient operations of the physician practices.  Works with senior leadership and physician leadership to identify process improvements and develop short-term and long-term goals & objectives for the practices, including the introduction of new technologies, development of new service lines, and expansion into new markets.
Develops a system of financial and statistical reporting for review by senior leadership and physician leadership.  Develops reporting for physician performance for review by senior leadership and physicians.
Oversees the business practices at all affiliated physician practices and notifies the CFO of potential compliance issues.  Works with the CFO and Corporate Compliance Officer to resolve any potential issues.
Establishes a centralized billing office (CBO) for all owned physician practices.  Manages the day-to-day activities of the CBO.
Works with senior leadership to conduct “due diligence” on new practices targeted for potential affiliation, including working with consultants to establish fair market value compensation rates, etc.
Works with newly-affiliated practices to ensure integration into the Hospital’s systems.
Attends financial and operational review meetings and makes recommendations on administrative and budgetary matters.
Selects, trains, and evaluates the performance of the assigned staff.
Provides mentoring, oversight, and direction for the growth, and development of practice administrators and assigned staff.  Guides practice administrators and assigned staff in the implementation of systems and processes to maintain compliance and meet regulatory standards.
Works with lead physicians and practice managers to assist in the management of the practices as needed and effectively engages physician leadership in issues that affect clinic providers. A primary objective is for the Director to remove obstacles and barriers in order for the practice leadership to reach their goals.
Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Education and Work Experience
  1. Bachelor Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field.
  2. Minimum of five years of progressive healthcare management or business development experience is required.
  3. Successful track record of planning, implementing and managing new business ventures.
  4. Evidence of exceptional customer service skills and excellent interpersonal relationship skills.
  5. Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others.
  6. Preferred M.B.A.
  7. Proven experience in management of finance, strategic planning, and marketing of health care services is preferred.
