Job Description


The Operating Room Tech is responsible for the preparation of sterile supplies and instruments for each assigned procedure, maintainingsterile field during case and providing surgeon with sterile supplies and instruments during assigned procedures.


Education and Work Experience
  • Graduate of an ORT training program or on the job training with a minimum of 3 years experience (surgical setting preferred).
  • Experience in scrubbing minor and major procedures in various surgical specialties (i.e. General, Ortho, Urology and GYN).
  • Current BCLS (AHA) upon hire and maintain current.
  • Three years experience working in an acute care operating room, functions as primary scrub role for open heart surgery or as a specialtycoordinator.
  • Previous work experience on an open heart team may be substituted for acute care operating room experience.
  • Must be proficient in the following specialties: \u2022 Gen\u2022 Gyn\u2022 Urol\u2022 Vasc\u2022 ENT/Plastics
  • Must be proficient in three of the following specialties or coordinating a specialty: \u2022 Major Vascular\u2022 Ortho\u2022 Neuro\u2022 Thor/CV
  • A Surg tech II can work in a Surg Tech III job code if they are willing to learn/scrub on Open Hearts not in primary scrub role. (this is for thesuccession plan).
  • Proficient is defined as the associate can perform cases in that specialty independently.
