Job Description

Responsibilities
Demonstrates proficient utilization of the PBX system; understands all emergency codes and is prepared to initiate any code upon the occurrence of an emergency. Adept in professional etiquette, is familiar with all facility services and extensions as to efficiently transfer all incoming calls to the appropriate department, or individual. Answers general questions regarding location of the hospital, department hours of service, and types of medical services available within the hospital. Responsible for day to day operations within the PBX area; responsible for maintaining the staff schedule, ensuring adequate coverage when there is a call-off, completing and delivering performance reviews, and corrective actions when necessary. Provides in-services and education as needed on policies and procedures that affect the PBX staff. Ensures that PBX staff is adequately trained to respond to alarms, and codes as outlined within hospital policy.
Qualifications
Education and Work Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required (effective 4/1/14 for all new hires).
  • Bachelors degree preferred.
  • One to two years experience as a supervisor/ manager in the Admitting/PBX areas of an acute care facility preferred.
  • Effective written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Previous PBX Experience required.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize needs to meet required timelines.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Customer Services experience required.
