Job Description

Responsibilities Plans, organizes, and directs a system-wide Supply Chain Management program.  Responsible for the review and analysis of all supply chain purchases and ongoing contract management.  Works with facility Material Management staff to implement supply chain cost reductions and operational improvement opportunities.  The Corporate Director provides professional support in the areas of supply procurement, inventory management and operational best practices.  Directs negotiations with vendors to provide improved pricing and/or rebates on IDN and GPO contracts.  Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with clinical, administrative and healthcare system staff.

  • Develops and implements policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services.
  • Effectively communicates to staff regarding departmental operations.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of department’s financial impact on hospitals bottom line.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of resource management plans in an effort to decrease resource consumption.
  • Understands and adheres to industry standards, ie. JCAHO, HFAP, CME, Title 22, hospital policies.
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining hospital policies for Purchasing, Receiving, Warehousing, General Stores and Supply Distribution.
  • Responsible for the supervision and direction of staff, including recruitment, job duties, orientation, hiring, discipline.
  • Responsible for hospital wide compliance to National Purchasing agreements. Also responsible for the standardization of products and equipment throughout the hospital.
  • Working with identified prime vendors and distributors to develop and implement various inventory controls and tracking mechanisms, distribution systems involving the hospital and medical sites if required.
  • Negotiates with outside supply and equipment vendors. Interviews and screens new vendors and the introduction of new products to the company.
  • Coordinates the capital budget planning process with the assistance of accounting and administration.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Required Qualifications

    Minimum of five years management experience in Material Management in an acute care facility. Bachelor’s degree or sufficient equivalent experience as a Director of Materials in an acute care setting. Must be computer literate and have working experience using software used in Materials Management.Effective negotiation skills and analytical ability.
*Based at corporate offices in Ontario, CA and will travel 1-2 times monthly to hopsital sites within assigned region*
