Job Description

The Deputy Compliance Officer at Prime will offer strategic leadership and oversight of the compliance-related functions across hospitals.


  • Provides legal advice to directors, officers and managers of the organization regarding compliance matters and issues.
  • Assists management on responses to alleged violations of rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and the Code of Conduct by evaluating and providing legal advice on investigative procedures and resolutions. Develops and oversees a system for uniform handling of such violations.
  • Acts as an independent review and evaluation body to ensure that compliance issues/concerns within the organization are being appropriately evaluated, investigated, and resolved.
  • Demonstrates ability to problem solve and implement change as necessary to meet the changing needs of healthcare.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of laws, regulations and standards that affect the organization and ensures compliance.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of fiscal principles.


  • At least a bachelor’s degree from an accredited undergraduate institution, preferably in a healthcare-related field; 
  • At least five years of experience within a Compliance Department, or Legal Department performing compliance work, preferably with supervisory experience;
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills;
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulatory matters including billing and coding, privacy and security, credentialing, and hospital contracting;
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, HITECH, and relevant state breach notification requirements;
  • An understanding of federal guidance from OIG, DOJ, and CMS on developing and maintaining effective compliance programs; and
  • Knowledge of laws relating to Medicare, Medicaid, EMTALA, HIPAA, the Stark Law, the False Claims Act, and the Anti-kickback Statute.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Juris Doctor or other advanced degree;
  • Experience working with C-suite executives in a complex healthcare setting;
  • Certification in Healthcare Compliance, Healthcare Compliance Fellowship, Healthcare Privacy Compliance, Research Compliance, or other relevant training;
  • Experience in conducting or responding to government audits and investigations, including working with CMS, OIG, MACs, ZPICs, DOJ, OCR, etc.; and
  • Experience with working with an organization under a CIA.
