Job Description

Responsibilities
Maintains current credentials with coding accreditation society to ensure compliance with current Federal and State coding and compliance guidelines. Enters charges and codes for cardiac cath cases (diagnostic and interventional, elective and emergent, in and outpatient services), device implants such ICD, pacemaker, Impella. Schedules interventional radiology cases to be done in CCL. Works with admitting insurance verification pre-and post-procedures as well as finance, CDI if there are billing, documentation or coding questions. Works with nurse manager, physicians and their office staff, admitting, CCL charge nurse and radiology scheduling to schedule procedures appropriately to ensure satisfaction of physicians, nurse and technical staff and patients. Shares next day’s schedule nursing administration, radiology, OR/anesthesia, admitting to optimize flow of patients and staffing. Completes monthly stats by the 5th of each month so that they can be forwarded to the Corporate Regional Director-Cardiology & Radiology Services (East Coast Region) and to local CFO. Also, assists with other stats such as physician totals for administration, Physician Privileging etc. Works with charge nurses and other staff to answer phone calls, schedule cases etc. Cross trained to order supplies both with PO and general supplies from dietary and receiving when Lead Tech is off. Primarily responsible to enter POs to replace consigned device implants. Assists with burning CDs and reports; including shipping with proper medical records release. Works with medical records and physicians to ensure reports are completed with timeframe outlined by corporate policy and to query the documentation when necessary to increase the accuracy of coding and charges. Also, responsible to add any new products into EPIC list of supplies so they can be properly charged and works with accounts payable to assign CPT, C codes and HCPC codes assigned to the item, so that proper dollar amount is applied.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
1. Maintain certification in coding 2. Up to date with computer skills: including typing, medical terminology, EPIC and excel files 3. Works as a team player, demonstrates professionalism, phone etiquette
