Responsibilities

Department: Purchasing

Status: Full Time

Shift: Days

 

The Material Management/Buyer is responsible for the procurement of material and services as assigned by the Director of Material Management.  Applicant must understand inventory control in order to minimize stock and non-stock orders.  Applicant must be able to communicate with department managers regarding discrepancies, pricing, substitutes and backorders.  Applicant must be able to prioritize duties for optimum productivity. Applicant must able to process and organize purchase orders and receiving documents for Accounts Payable.

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

 

1.            High School Graduate or Equivalent.

2.            AA Degree Preferred.

3.            Previous recent hospital experience as a buyer preferred. 

4.            Knowledge involving the acquisition of equipment, supplies and policies and procedures.

5.            Ability to utilize Material Management Information system (MMIS) and EDI.

6.            Strong communication skills.

 

Employees must be in their current position for a minimum of six calendar months and not received any disciplinary action within the last six months to apply and be considered for a transfer.
