Job Description

Responsibilities The Biller/ Collector is responsible to bill and collect on their assigned payor(s) (Medicare, Medi-Cal, Workers’ compensation, HMO, PPO, IPA).  Audits patient accounts to ensure procedures and charges are coded accurately for clean claims and corrects billing errors. Able to bill Interim Claims accurately. Able to identify stop loss claims, implants and missing codes. Maintains proficiency in Medical Terminology.

The Biller/Collector is responsible for the follow-up performed on insurance balances or self pay as needed to ensure payment without delay is received from the insurance companies.  Communicates clearly and efficiently by phone and in person with our clients and staff members.  Maintains productivity standards and reports.  Maintains the M7 reports to a minimum with only problem accounts with a solution to avoid in future accounts. Obtains updated demographic information and all necessary information needed to comply with insurance billing/collection requirements and shares with management and team members. Operates computer to input follow up notes and retrieve collection and patient information. Able to write effective appeals to insurance companies. Is proficient with Excel and Word. Team player and Positive outlook.

Education and Work Experience

1. Knowledge of multiple insurance billing/collection requirements with 1-2 years of experience

2. Effective written and verbal communication skills

3. Ability to multi-task, prioritize needs to meet required timelines

4. Analytical and problem-solving skills

5. Excellent Customer Services skills with team and customers experience required

6. High School Graduate or GED Equivalent Required

7. Intermediate skills of Excel and Word
